About Me
Born and raised in Portugal, I’ve always had a passion for learning about languages and different cultures. Hearing English on the television at mere four years of age, I had already made up my mind: I would learn to speak English fluently. And that was only the beginning. I kept my promise to myself and later learned French and Italian with the same enthusiasm.
Working with languages was the only natural occupation for me. As a matter-of-course, a brief stay in Manchester paved the way for my multicultural life. After obtaining my specialized degree in translation, I dedicated my life to languages and translation. I’ve lived in a bicultural home for the last few decades and read avidly across five languages.
I regularly meet other translators face-to-face at conferences organized by professional translation associations, and I am dedicated to continuous professional development. Things in language, cultures and sectors are constantly changing, meaning there is always something to learn and my job stays exciting – even after twenty years.

Working Together
I take a comprehensive approach to my translations.
I’ll start by assessing the subject and word count of your document and reply with a proposed deadline and quotation (based on my daily output and rate). If you agree on the terms of the project, I only need your go-ahead to start.
We’ll start by taking some time to get to know you, your audience and your goals. I ask my clients a volley of specific and relevant questions. That way, we get exactly what you were expecting in the end.
I spend time researching your sector and sector-specific terminology and closely follow your company’s style guide and glossaries. If you don’t have any, we can talk about creating them to maintain consistency.
Once the document is translated, I carefully proofread it in order to make sure it is accurate, readable and that terminology is consistent.
I know that many documents are time-sensitive. Time permitting, I remain available after delivery to incorporate your feedback and comments, if there are any.
